Bright Futures for Youth is accepting applications for a one-year paid Kitchen Assistant Internship — providing an excellent opportunity to develop and learn the skills needed for the much-in-demand profession.
The intern will benefit from working in Bright Futures for Youth’s commercial kitchen, and expand and learn culinary and kitchen-related skills. The position requires a California ServSafe Food Handler’s Certification, which is included in the training for the position.
No previous experience is required.
The intern will work closely with and supervised by the kitchen manager, and will become an integral part of the commercial kitchen and nutrition program. The Kitchen Assistant Internship is a grant-funded, one-year position.
Duties include food prep and ensuring proper storage, selecting and serving dinner, and general and deep cleaning of the kitchen. The Kitchen Assistant Internship will also be involved in special events and work with and help guide volunteers.
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be part of a team and also work independently. Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds.
