Distance Learning Center Helps Meet High-Speed Online Needs of Students

Bright Futures for Youth helped establish and manages the free Distance Learning Center and Youth Hub at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

The Distance Learning Center and Youth Hub, which opened in mid-October 2020, provides educational services and supervision for students in Nevada County during the COVID pandemic and meets the subsequent health and safety requirements.

The center offers high-speed internet access – important for online learning but difficult to get for many in rural areas – socially distanced workstations and follows strict safety guidelines. Parents can drop off children in sixth grade and higher, while parents (or guardians) must remain with younger students.

The center is open 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. Grass Valley GVSD Child Nutrition Services offers free breakfasts and lunches to students.
