Youth Job Corps Program Internships Available

Bright Futures for Youth (BFFY) is providing paid internships in several areas within our organization as part of our grant-funded BFFY Youth Job Corps program. This program targets youth ages 16-30 who may have experienced barriers to employment and are needing on-the-job training, coaching and supports to obtain the job skills necessary to be sustainably employed. BFFY Lead Kitchen Assistant

The Lead Kitchen Assistant is ideal for a person who has experience in the food service industry and is eager to grow their leadership skills by supporting a team of 3-5 in a commercial kitchen. This role requires the youth to be 18 and older and to have a CA ServSafe Foodservice Manager Certification, which can be included in the training for the internship if not already obtained. Previous experience is necessary, as the applicant will work closely with the Kitchen and Nutrition Program Manager to independently lead the kitchen team in planning and preparing meals for 20-70 youth every weekday. The Lead Kitchen Assistant is a full-time position through September 30, 2024, with the possibility of an extension or permanent position with Bright Futures for Youth.  This position is supervised by the Kitchen and Nutrition Program Manager.

NEO Youth Development Recreation Coordinator

The Youth Development Recreation Coordinator Intern (YDRC Intern) will be trained to support the NEO Program Director in implementing program activities with middle school and high school youth, as well as young adults ages 18-25 in the after school, campus outreach, and summer programs for youth. This involves implementing summer camps and activities during school breaks, as well as all supplementary activities and support programs. The YDRC Intern will be trained to assist with supervising youth leaders, providing their training and ongoing support.

NEO Youth Development Recreation Assistant

The Youth Development Recreation Assistant Intern (YDRA Intern) will be trained to support the NEO Recreation Coordinator in implementing program activities with middle school and high school youth, as well as young adults ages 18-25 in the after school and summer programs for youth. This involves implementing summer camps and activities during school breaks, as well as all supplementary activities and support programs. The YDRA Intern will be trained to assist with supervising youth leaders, providing their training and ongoing support. The YDRA Intern is a full-time position through September 30, 2024, with potential to extend longer, and is supervised, trained, and supported by the NEO Program Director and the NEO Recreation Coordinator.

NEO Youth Development Outreach Assistant

The Youth Development Outreach Assistant Intern (YDOA Intern) will be trained to support the NEO Outreach Coordinator in implementing program activities with middle school and high school youth, as well as young adults ages 18-25 on their school campuses, in the drop-in youth center, and during summer programs for youth. This involves assisting the Outreach Coordinator with developing and implementing campus activities, tabling at community events, and connecting with families and school-day staff to better support the youth.

Friendship Club Youth Development Assistant

The Youth Development Assistant Intern (YDA Intern) will be trained to support the Friendship Club in implementing summer program activities with middle school and high school youth. This involves assisting the Youth Development Coordinators with developing and implementing activities for youth over summer and after school. The YDA Intern is a part-time position through September 30, 2024 and is supervised, trained, and supported by the TFC Program Director and the Youth Development Coordinators.
