A new NEO pilot program is looking for men to become mentors just a few hours every month to middle-school boys in Nevada County.
A barbecue, a baseball game, bowling, a hike or shooting baskets in the park.

The goal is to build a connection and develop a relationship where you can discuss numerous topics, from how to deal with bullying at school and/or on social media to the importance of healthy relationships.
Bright Futures for Youth/NEO will hold a series of training sessions on a range of topics and situtations to help prepare men to become mentors at the NEO Youth Center at Bright Futures for Youth, 200 Litton Drive (first floor) in Grass Valley.
NEO will also coordinate the once-a-month meetings, making planning less of an issue for mentors. Mentors and their mentees are welcome – and even encouraged – to meet more often, if schedules allow.
Please note: NEO will conduct background and DMV records checks.
So, come on, be that cool friend, fill-in father or that sometimes goofy grandfather to a middle-school boy who could benefit greatly from your friendship and time.
It’s an investment that will help a boy become a better man. And that’s an investment that helps our community.
