Friendship Club grad completes her second bachelor’s degree – and with honors

Cheyenna Brock Jimenez

Friendship Club (2016) graduate Cheyanna Brock Jimenez has earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Chamberlain University and received a national award for her academic excellence.

Cheyanna, who graduated Summa Cum Laude, recently received the McAuley Nursing Award from Mercy/Dignity Health.  Cheyanna, who has also earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Sonoma State University, credits a scholarship from The Friendship Club and board member Susie Bavo and her husband, Dave, who paid for her nursing degree and helped with Sonoma State.

The Bavos met her “as a quiet but driven high schooler,” Susie Bavo says. “By graduation, she was outgoing and confident. It was a pleasure to help getting her through college. She worked so hard. She chose her nursing program because it gave her time for family and a life. TFC was the boost that Cheyanna needed to realize the future she wanted.”

She is the first in her family to attend college, let alone earn a bachelor’s degree.

She balanced school and a full-time job as a child-care worker with a focus on behavioral modification and counseling for young boys who have experienced trauma.

We are very proud of Cheyanna’s accomplishments and her commitment to school and helping others.
