The Friendship Club’s mission piqued the curiosity of Leo Granucci and his wife, Gayle, to become involved in the organization many years ago. The experience and results keep them involved as donors and volunteers.
“The best way to learn about The Friendship Club is to observe a participant going through the program,” says Granucci, whose wife Gayle was a mentor to numerous girls. He remembers the life-changing experience for his wife’s first mentee. “She had low self confidence and self-esteem. As I watched her through her journey, I saw her confidence build and her communications and social skills improve significantly. The Friendship Club became her family.”
Granucci, who has served two terms as a board member, says the expanded organization will help meet the needs of more youth in the region.
“It’s been a wonderful relationship with the organization,” says Granucci, who encourages others to become involved. “Investing in our youth today will benefit our community greatly. Today’s youth is our tomorrow’s future.”
